Texas Health Insurance

Texas Health Insurance

If you live in Texas and don’t have health insurance, I’m going to help you get an affordable health plan for you or family.

Let me explain how the Marketplace Health Insurance quoting system works. A Marketplace Health Insurance is health insurance from companies who are contracted and obligated to follow the rules of  the Affordable Care Act.

Marketplace Quoting System

The quoting system for the marketplace looks at three things to get the highest potential incentive (discount) to help lower the regular price of a health insurance.

3 things

► Age – the younger you are the lower your policy payment.

► Family Size – the system considers your family size to help you get a higher incentive.

► Income – yearly income is a big factor to determine your incentive.

AGE

Your age determines how much your health plan will cost you.

Federal rules allow insurers to charge older adults (60’s) up to three times the premium they would charge younger adults (20’s).

Family Size

The system Marketplace savings are based on expected income for all household members, not just the ones who need insurance.

  • Include your spouse if you’re legally married.
  • If you plan to claim someone as a tax dependent for the year you want coverage, do include them on your application.
  • If you won’t claim them as a tax dependent, don’t include them.
  • Include your spouse and tax dependents even if they don’t need health coverage.

A 35 year old Female needs health insurance with 3 kids with CHIP.

She will get a higher incentive if she includes her 3 kids with CHIP in Family Size 4 (adult + 3 kids = 4 family size) than Family Size 1 female.

Income

Income determines if you can afford the regular price of health insurance. Marketplace savings are based on your expected household income for the year you want coverage, not last year’s income.

For most people,  household income consists of the tax filer, their spouse if they have one, and their tax dependents income if they earn more than $12,000 (see IRS requirements for more details).

Low Income

If your income is too low, the systems assumes your state of residence qualifies you for Medicaid. If your state rejects your Medicaid application, you can come back to the Marketplace application and input that your Medicaid application was denied and you will be able to get health insurance via the Marketplace. High Income

If your income is high or don’t qualify for incentive (discount) due to your income, the Marketplace plans have good medical services and can not deny coverage if you have a medical condition.
