What are the benefits offered by the ACA? It’s a very important question for those who think the ACA does not offer good or excellent health coverage.

The Affordable Care Act The Affordable Care Act (ACA), also known as Obamacare, started in 2010.

Under the ACA, health insurance carriers are required to grant the following benefits for all policyholders.

Must include 10 Essential Benefits:

  • Preventive services and chronic disease management.
  • Hospitalization.
  • Prescription Drugs.
  • Ambulatory services
  • Emergency services
  • Maternity and newborn care.
  • Mental health and substance abuse disorder services.
  • Rehabilitation services.
  • Laboratory services.
  • Pediatric services.
The Affordable Care Act (ACA) also mandates insurance companies who participate in the ACA to accept all Americans who need health insurance, regardless of preexisting conditions. 
 
Millions of Americans have benefitted by receiving health insurance coverage through the ACA. Many of these people are healthy low and middle income, and low to high income with preexisting medical conditions.
